The Dacia Sandero has undergone a facelift for 2017, receiving new styling details and a brand new, 1.0-litre, 74bhp petrol powertrain.

What makes it most impressive, however, is the model’s starting price of £5,995, which has remained the same despite these updates.

It retains its position as the cheapest car on the UK market, and the only one to cost below £6,000.

Thinking of a Sandero, but not sure which is for you? Don’t worry, here at we’ve got you covered. We’ve picked out three different options at three different price points, to make the choice easy.

The smart choice for those on a budget: Dacia Sandero Access
The base level Dacia Sandero is the petrol Access, and with the SCe 75 powertrain and a five-speed manual transmission, it costs just £5,995.
Despite this incredibly low price, the Sandero Access features Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction control (ASR) and Hill Start Assist (HSA) as standard. Air conditioning is accounted for by a four-speed heating and ventilation system, while there are no satnav or connectivity features.
While the exterior of the model is painted in glacier white with 15-inch Tarkine steel wheels as standard, the interior is decked out in dark carbon, with Cerite cloth upholstery.
With this powertrain, the Sandero Access achieves a combined mpg of 53.3, producing emissions of 120g/km.

The smart choice for value for money: Dacia Sandero Ambiance
If you still want to benefit from the Dacia’s new powertrain, but want a little more bang for your buck, then you should opt from the middling Ambiance.
Costing from only £1,000 more than the Access, it features the same glacier white paint, dark carbon interior and cerite cloth upholstery as standard.
However, this higher trim adds a host of equipment including air conditioning, DAB radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, remote locking, hill start assist and electric windows.
Due to sharing the same powertrain as its lower-spec sibling, mpg and CO2 emissions are the same.

The smart choice for technophiles: Dacia Sandero Laureate
Finally, at the top of the Sandero range sits the diesel Laureate.
Featuring the dCi 90 engine – producing 90bhp – it brings a host of additional equipment, while still costing from only £10,395.
Three of the biggest additions to the model are rear parking sensors, cruise control and speed limiter and a navigation system with UK mapping. The latter can be upgraded to Western Europe maps for only £90.
The car is again finished in Glacier white, with a dark carbon interior. However, the chairs are clad in Indite cloth upholstery instead.
The 1.5-litre diesel achieves fuel economy of 80.7mpg, while emitting CO2 of 90g/km.
