If you were ever into toy cars as a child, you’ll undoubtedly have heard of Hot Wheels. The iconic brand has been manufacturing die-cast replicas of your favourite childhood vehicles since 1968. With everything from the Batmobile to real-life supercars represented in miniature form, they’ve won the affections of generations of fans.

Now, however, Hot Wheels has created something little more life-sized. With a new Star Wars film just around the corner, the toymaker has created a full working car based on Darth Vader, to publicise its new range of Star Wars themed toys.

Quite whether Darth Vader would ever drive a car remains questionable, but if he were to have an automobile, this would surely be it. Taking design cues from his helmet, including the gappy front-grille, the car sits low and wide on its red-striped tyres. It even emits ‘heavy breathing’ noises just like the man himself.

This isn’t just some show-stand piece that requires loading onto a lorry everywhere it goes. At its heart sits a 526bhp 6.2-litre V8 engine, lifted from the previous generation Chevrolet Corvette sports car. The car’s performance statistics have not been published, though it’s safe to say it’ll be on the far side (dark side?) of rather quick.

Unfortunately you can’t buy the Darth Vader car, but you can search our classifieds for a used Chevrolet here.
