Volkswagen has released details of a special edition version of the Golf GTI:  the Clubsport S, a stripped out, more powerful version of its GTI hatchback.

This exclusive two-seater model has been honed by extensive racetrack testing sessions and boasts a lot more power than the normal model, drawing pointers from the GTI built for the TCR International Series.

The power output has been increased to over 300hp and with the weight reduced to 1,360kg, the Clubsport S has a power-to-weight ratio of 4.22kg/hp.

To reduce the bulk the rear seats, central armrest and other interior features have been removed, and under the bonnet, a smaller battery has been fitted to help shed as much weight as possible.

On the outside, more changes have been made to make this model as special as possible, including semi-slicks fitted to 19-inch ‘Pretoria’ alloy wheels, black painted roof on each of the three colour options, tinted rear windows and Xenon headlights with LED daytime lights. Special brakes have also been installed to stop overheating and reduce brake fade.

Despite the extreme weight shedding inside, the interior has provides all the driver needs for a sporty feel, such as the racing bucket seats, red and black accenting throughout and Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel to give you grip and feel.

To add more sportiness, the Clubsport S also has a ‘N?rburgring Nordschliefe’ setting that helps the car handle corners and bumps whilst maintaining optimum grip

With 100 of the 400 limited edition models being sold in Germany, you’ll have to be quick to get your hands on this exclusive hot hatch.
