Audi used the Frankfurt motor show to unveil its visions of future supercars.

First off is the stunning Sport Quattro Concept. Harking back to the iconic 80s model of the same name, the Concept uses RS5 underpinnings and mates a 4.0-litre petrol engine to a hybrid system for a maximum 690bhp. It's not pie in the sky stuff, either, with Audi bosses nearly – but not quite – confirming it will go into production.

Secondly is the rather outlandish Nanuk concept, which is billed as an off-road capable supercar. It too uses an unconventional power-source, being fitted with a 5.0-litre turbodiesel engine that will return over 30mpg. More pertinently it develops a Porsche 911 Turbo beating 550bhp. Don't expect the Nanuk to reach showrooms – it's been created to showcase Audi's future design direction, which, we have to say, is shaping up to be stunning.
