And following the appeal of third-party modified Rangers, the firm is now offering buyers an official option if they want their truck to stand out further from the crowd.
Based on the high-spec Wildtrak specification, the MS-RT gains a new honeycomb carbon fibre-effect grille, along with redesigned bumpers and new 20-inch OZ Racing alloy wheels. The wheel arches have also been broadened and new side sills have been fitted. Colour options include Frozen White, Sea Grey and Agate Black. A healthy dose of ‘MS-RT’ badges also appear throughout.
The inside is less outlandish, and instead features much the same interior as the standard Ranger – including leather seats with orange stitching, an eight-inch touchscreen, floor mats and special scuff plates.
Under the bonnet of the Ranger is a 210bhp 2.0-litre biturbo diesel engine, which is combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission. An optional sound amplifier is also available to enhance the noise of the model.
Brendan Lyne, director, Commercial Vehicles, Ford of Europe, said: “The Ranger MS-RT is designed for customers who value Ranger’s hard-working capability but want the racing pedigree and hand-finished exclusivity of our MS-RT series.
“This eye-catching vehicle blends Ford’s decades of success in pick-up trucks with striking motorsport-inspired design to offer a road-focused truck combining immense kerb appeal with the hard-working ability that our customers love.”
Prices have yet to be announced, but it’s set to arrive in Ford showrooms in the summer.
