Two new low-CO2, cheap to tax Pandas join the Italian car maker's model range.
Fiat has launched two lower-CO2 variants of its Panda city car. Each is based on existing petrol-engined models but both now drop their exhaust emissions to 119g/km, which cuts what you pay for road tax.
The Panda Active Eco is, as the name suggests, based on the cheapest Panda, the 1.1 Active. The 1.2 Dynamic Eco follows suit. Each costs £100 more than its ‘regular’ counterpart; other Panda 1.1s and 1.2s emit 135g/km and 133g/km of CO2 respectively. Fuel consumption figures for the two Eco Pandas are identical at 56.5mpg combined. To produce these Eco versions, Fiat has added easy-roll tyres to the 'standard' Panda and also used low-viscosity engine oil.
However, the lowest-CO2 Panda remains the 1.3 diesel, which pumps out just 114g/km.
Each of the five-door, four-seat city cars is sensibly equipped for the price: the Active has central locking, power steering and electric front windows, while the Dynamic has all this plus remote locking and a CD/MP3 player.
Both cars begin sale this week through Fiat’s 167 UK dealers.
