Mini has created a special version of its Electric hatchback covered in 2,000 LED Christmas lights to raise money for charity.

The project’s creator Nico Martin first wrapped his own Mini in fairy lights three years ago to display in his local town of Bracknell, and managed to raise £5,000 from the Festive Mini last December.

Now he has enlisted the support of Mini UK, Festive Lights and smart lighting company Twinkly to make the Festive Mini brighter than ever, while also taking the model on a UK tour, visiting a range of locations.

Each year Martin raises money for the MS Trust and Duchenne UK, but has introduced a guest charity for 2021 – Alzeimer’s UK – with the hope to raise more than £50,000 this year.

Martin said: “I’m so pleased to be back with the Festive Mini charity tour. I just knew last year I had an opportunity to cheer people up and also to raise funds for the MS Trust and Duchenne UK.

“Both charities mean a lot to me – unfortunately my mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis six years ago, and in 2019 I was asked to take the Festive Mini to surprise an incredible young boy, Marcus Rooks, who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. When I saw his face light up with so much joy and excitement, I realised that I had created something truly special. Ever since meeting him and learning about his condition, I’ve wanted to support him in any way I can.”

The Festive Mini begins its tour on November 25 at The Lexicon, Bracknell, and will travel to various locations, including the Silverstone Circuit, Warwick and Blackpool. Further details about the tour can be found here.
