Gone are the days when a footballer just played football. Now being a football star is as much about being a clothes horse for upmarket labels and boosting the popularity of big brands around the world.

And the latest exploits of football legend David Beckham see him promoting Jaguar in a Chinese TV advert that aims to increase the desirability of the British brand in what is now the world’s largest car market – China.

The ex-footballer, underwear model, media commentator and father of four shows off the progression of Jaguar cars from being hairy-chested monsters on the race track to classy sports cars and now upmarket luxury cars.

After its series of James Bond-style adverts, this latest campaign sees Beckham charting his way along the Jaguar alphabet – moving from black and white footage of the chisel-jawed celeb racing a classic D-Type before cruising around in an E-Type and then ending up in an F-Type and driving across Westminster Bridge in London.
