This is the new Kia Picanto. Just-issued pictures of the new city sized runabout show a much chunkier looking car and one that bears a strong family look. It’s a strong lookalike for the Venga, which will be the model above it in the range, but it also has close design ties to the Sportage and Soul.
The new car will be bigger, while its cabin is expected to feature satin-finish plastics on its dash, which will be a step up. Unlike the current car, which sells only as a five-door, the newcomer will let buyers also choose three-doors, if they wish. There’ll be four all-new petrol engines of 1.0 and 1.2 displacements.
The original Picanto arrived in the UK seven years ago, gaining a facelift towards theend of 2008. A year ago, Kia increased its warranty from three years to seven years/100,000 miles.
The new car is due in UK dealerships from May. Full prices and specifications haven’t been released yet, but Kia says the entry model will cost under £8000.
