How to choose the right Ford C-Max

The Ford C-Max is a popular MPV that offers decent on-road handling characteristics, as well as competitive levels of standard equipment and technology. With more and more people looking for a sporty drive as well as a spacious interior, the C-Max is Ford’s attempt to do just that.

With a variety of different specifications, choosing the right C-Max can be difficult. Luckily, we’ve picked three of the best, taking three different price points into consideration.

The Smart choice for saving money – C-Max Zetec

The Zetec is the base model in the C-Max range, but luckily for those looking to save money it still contains an impressive amount of standard equipment.

On the outside, there’s 16-inch alloy wheels and front fog lights. As well as this, drivers will see a chrome surround on the front grille, as well as body coloured door mirrors. A bright finish on the upper door line gives the C-Max an even more premium feel, as well as lifting the exterior of the car.

Inside, drivers will see a 4.2-inch colour display with Bluetooth connectivity and a six speaker sound system. As well as this, there’s air conditioning and a central armrest with a decent amount of storage space underneath. That’s where the C-Max does well, giving occupants plenty of room to put belongings and loose items.

The C-Max is also incredible safe, thanks to front-to-rear curtain airbags and ISOFIX child safety seat attachments, as well as anti-lock braking and electronic stability control.

The C-Max Zetec retails at £18,395.

The Smart choice for those on a budget – C-Max Titanium

The Titanium specification C-Max builds on the already impressive list of standard equipment included in the Zetec model.

You’ll now see 17-inch alloy wheels on all four corners, as well as chrome finish surrounds on the front fog lights. Adding to the Titanium’s look are halogen signature headlights with LED daytime running lights – all of which are automatic. Rain sensing wipers adds to the equipment that works automatically. Dual-zone climate control will help drivers maintain a constant temperature, keeping everyone in the car happy.

Inside, there’s now an eight-inch colour touchscreen display which has integrated DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity. Long-distance drivers will welcome the included cruise control, as well as the premium trimmed seats with manual lumbar support for the front passengers. Velour floor mats add to the heightened luxury, and ambient lighting helps lift the interior even at night.

The C-Max Titanium comes in at £20,395.

The Smart choice for technophiles – C-Max Titanium X

Those looking for all the bells and whistles in a car should go no further than the C-Max Titanium. As well as a fixed panoramic, there’s adaptive headlights with bi-xenon headlights and dedicated LED day running lights. These headlights are automatically levelling, meaning that there’s no need to tailor the height of the lights for a particular road. Rain-sensing wipers are still included, as are specially-designed 17-inch five spoke alloy wheels.

Inside, there’s now sports seats finished in premium partial leather with contrast stitching. The driver’s seat also now benefits from electric adjustment, as well as heating. The passenger’s seat is heated, too.

Ford’s newest operating system, SYNC 2, is also shown on the eight-inch colour touchscreen display, which incorporates satellite navigation as well as media functions. It can also be controlled by the driver’s voice, meaning that they can concentrate on driving rather than using the manual controls.

The C-Max Titanium X represent excellent value considering the amount of standard equipment, coming in at a base price of £22,895.
