BMW has revealed a new concept coupe at the Frankfurt Motor Show – the Concept 4. Built to showcase what the next generation of 4 Series range may look like, the car features a radical design.

The most notable design feature is a large kidney grille that dominates the front facia. Both the BMW X7 and latest 7 Series saloon make use of rather huge grilles, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the more compact 4 Series followed suit.

Domagoj Dukec, head of BMW Design, said: “The large kidney grille has always been a signature feature of BMW cars. The BMW Concept 4 presents a confident and classy take on this iconic feature. At the same time, the BMW Concept 4 offers a look ahead to the expressive face of the 4 Series range.”

The German firm says the concept’s overall styling has been influenced by classic 328 and 3.0 CSL models. This can be seen in its sweeping exterior lines.

At the time of writing, there aren’t any images of the car’s interior, but the production version is expected to utilise many components of its saloon counterpart – the 3 Series.
