As excitement builds ahead of the release of the new Bond film later this year, our attention turned to our favourite four wheeled wonders from the big screen. Bond and the wider world of film and fantasy has created some of the most memorable and most desired cars of all time. It’s been impossible to pick a top five, so here are some of the Motors.co.uk team’s favourites. We’d love to hear yours, so get in touch.

The Ghostbusters Ecto-1

A1980s classic! The iconic car, a converted 1959 Cadillac, can be seen here tearing through the streets of New York in Ghostbusters II:

The Batmobile

Kept in the Batcave and armed with gadgets to help Batman fight crime in Gotham city, the Batmobile is a firm favourite. It’s a sleek piece of kit that evolves throughout the Batman series. This clip from 1989 shows the Batmobile in action:

The DeLorean

What more could you want from a car than time travel? Unlike others in our list, the DeLorean DMC-12 was available for general purchase but in the film Back to the Future, Dr Brown modified the car to create his time travel machine.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

The vintage racing car is lovingly restored by an eccentric inventor in the 1968 film and during a series of adventures it’s realised the car can fly. Check out the car in flight:

007 Lotus Esprit

This has to be one of the most famous movie cars of all time. It may not fly, or travel back in time, but this Bond classic works underwater! From The Spy Who Loved Me, this car converts into submarine mode when Bond touches a button. Take a look:
