Preparing yourself for winter journeys

When the weather turns for the worse and everything is covered in a thick layer of snow, the safest thing to do is to stay indoors and avoid driving altogether.

?However, for most of us, hiding away at home until the weather brightens simply isn’t an option, and there will inevitably come the time when we have to venture out in our cars in blizzard conditions.

While most of the time, such journeys will pass without incident, it’s worth being prepared, just in case you become stuck in deep snow or heavy traffic.

?We spoke to Institute of Advanced Motorists spokesman Tim Shallcross, to find out what exactly we should be loading our cars with before we embark out on a journey in adverse conditions, to ensure we stay warm, dry and safe should the worst happen.
