F1 stars before they were famous

Ever wondered where the F1 drivers of tomorrow are trained? Like legends of the sport – Senna, Mansell, Prost – most of them started off karting. At Motors.co.uk we thought it would be interesting to see them in their formative days, so sit back and watch some of the most competitive, cut throat racing of all as the stars battle it out to take their first steps on the motorsport ladder. 

Take a look at Brit Jenson Button in the 1995 Karting World Championship:

Kimi Raikkonen has had a need for speed since his early days. In this Finnish clip from an old documentary you see him preparing and racing around in his kart:

Our last video shows F1 new boy Max Verstappen karting. His dad is a former F1 driver and his mother a successful karter, so it’s in the blood!
