World’s biggest ice cream van unveiled

A monster truck ice cream van, claimed to be the largest in the world, has been revealed for the first time.

The pink goliath was unveiled on the beach at Great Yarmouth, where it dispensed super-sized ice creams that children needed to climb on a ladder to reach!

The leviathan, which is based on a Chevrolet Step-Van, has been built especially by Skoda – and by the company’s own admission, it’s a little different to its usual output!

Skoda says the monster truck measures over 21 feet in length, and tips the scales at 5.5 tonnes. It also features four massive speakers, and wheels that measure five feet in diameter, which will help it to deal with “the toughest UK beach terrains”.

The behemoth is set to tour the country this summer, dispensing free ice creams to visitors at a variety of special events.

Bournemouth Air Show, the Royal County of Berkshire Show, and a variety of ‘King Of The Mountain’ cycling stages will all play host to the mammoth machine, where Skoda expects to give away over 6,500 free frozen treats.

The ice cream truck has been built to take part in Skoda’s television ad campaign for its new Octavia vRS.

It’ll feature alongside a raft of other souped-up versions of everyday gadgets, Skoda says, which are set to include a giant toy trike, a lawnmower with multiple exhaust pipes, and a ‘man-pram’.
