Video tracks the life of the Porsche 911

February 16, 2016 | By | In News, Video

Porsche isn’t a car manufacturer known for its design innovation, and this seems only too easy to see in this video of the transformation process of the legendary 911.

Starting off with the 901 of 1964, the video tracks the subtle changes that have occurred to every incarnation of the 911. Incredibly, the price of the first 911 was $6,490 (£4,537) rising to $175,900 (£122,991) for the latest 991 GT3RS. Power has increased by over 300bhp, too.

Although the car’s design hasn’t changed much throughout its life, the 911 commands a fearsome following around the world, thanks to its sharp handling and immediate engine response.

The rear-engine sports car has often been criticised for the location of its powerplant, but over 50 years of development and engineering has given way to a car that silences the majority of critics.

The debate still rages between those who favour the air-cooled models or water-cooled cars, but that’s for the die-hard Porsche fans to decide.
