Video: Stunt driver breaks parking record

January 13, 2015 | By | In News

Parking may be the bane of many motorists’ lives, but it doesn’t have to be a chore with a little imagination. Some people, like stunt driver Alastair Moffatt, in fact, have turned it into something of an art form.

Rather than carefully manouevring to squeeze the car into a tight space, Moffatt has a much quicker method; speeding up to the space, yanking the wheel and then using the handbrake to spin the car around and into place. Showing off his skills at the Performance Car Show at the Autosport International Racing Car Show last week, Moffatt has now retaken the Guinness World Record for the tightest parallel park, after sliding a Fiat 500C into a space just 7.5cm longer than the car.

Moffatt drove a completely standard model with just a steering knob added to help him flick the wheel quickly and a disconnected stability control system, which allowed him to lock the back wheels and cause them to slide.

Watch the stunt driver’s antics for yourself in the video above.
