Mini may be a brand famed for its retro styling rather than cutting-edge design, but the latest concept car from the company is anything but retro. The new Clubman Vision Gran Turismo – which is set to appear as a virtual concept car in the sixth instalment of the Gran Turismo video game franchise – boasts a chunky stature with enormous 22-inch alloy wheels and lashings of carbon fibre.
This is no style-over-substance machine though, with a 395bhp motor crammed under the gently-contoured bonnet. Allied to a six-speed sequential gearbox and four-wheel drive, this motor gives the concept the muscle to sprint from a standstill to 62mph in a rapid 3.5 seconds, while it is capable of keeping going all the way to 180mph.
This may be mooted as nothing more than a virtual concept, but we sincerely hope that Mini makes this striking concept a reality. Have a closer look in the video below.
