Rolls Royce creates modern FAB 1

Usually a shining example of classic British good taste, Rolls-Royce has gone all Katie Price for its latest creation – a modern day interpretation of the iconic Thunderbirds FAB 1.

Based on an extended-wheelbase version of the company’s entry level (a snip at £194,800) Ghost model, Rolls Royce has spent over six weeks customising it to look like Lady Penelope’s wheels including covering almost the entire interior – stainless steel bonnet not withstanding – in a durable pink plastic.

The interior has also benefitted from a makeover, being finished in a powder pink with cream leather. Unfortunately the Ghost doesn’t feature Fab 1’s hidden machine guns and smokescreen device.

The car has been created as part of Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans’ drive to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. The self-confessed petrol-head already owns the FAB 1 number plate, to be fitted to the vehicle, which is to be made available for hire for the next 12 months.

If you’re interested you’ll need £5,000 per day. As suiting the car’s luxury status, a chauffeur is included in the price, though whether he will be called Parker is not clear.

The car is also available for use as part of a number of luxury packages, including tickets to the final of Britain’s Got Talent and the use of an exclusive box at Glorious Goodwood Ladies Day.

Chris Evans is hoping to raise a total of £1 million for the charity. He is first taking the Rolls-Royce on a tour of the country to raise awareness for the campaign, accompanied by long time friend Brian Cox and celebrity baker Mary Berry who has agreed to play Lady Penelope to Evans’ Parker.

Commending Rolls-Royce for taking part in the campaign, Evans said: “I walked into HR Owen [a Rolls-Royce dealership in London’s Berkeley Square] and said, “Do you think you can give me a Rolls-Royce for a year?” They asked why and I said, “It’s to raise £1million for a breast cancer charity.” Within minutes they said, “Yes, we’ll do it.” ”
