Ride with Rosberg in Mercedes’ 2014 F1 car

Mercedes has given us a unique taste of what it’s like to ride along in its 2014 F1 racecar, with an innovative 360-degree camera.

Taking to a grey Silverstone circuit, Nico Rosberg puts the new turbocharged 1.6-litre car through its paces. And while it might not sound as glorious as F1 cars of old, there’s no doubting it can move like one.

Using six cameras, the hot lap was documented in full 3D, allowing viewers to check out the action from a plethora of angles, and understand just what it takes to pilot one of these extreme machines.

Brit favourite Lewis Hamilton also took to the track in Mercedes’ brutal E63 AMG estate car. Being chased down by another driver in the saloon version, the pursuit was also filmed in 360-degree, so you can see the tyre-shredding action up close.
