Range Rovers may be famed for their off-road ability but the company is hoping to take on Rolls-Royce and Bentley with its latest range-topping model.
The new SVAutobiography takes the British marque’s flagship off-roader to new heights, offering an even more luxurious experience than the standard car ? particularly for those in the back seats ? all for a hefty price of £149,000.
This opulent new Range Rover is set to make its public debut this week at the New York motor show, with the car being billed as ?the most luxurious and powerful series production Range Rover? to ever emerge from the company’s factory in Solihull.
Replacing the current range-topper, the Autobiography Black, the new model has been created by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations, which has a number of high performance and bespoke machines to its name.
Going on sale in ‘standard’ and long-wheelbase form, the SVAutobiography will be available in a number of two-tone paint finishes, with black paint for the upper flanks and roof and the option of nine contrasting body colours. It also gains a unique chrome grille and SVO badges to differentiate it from lesser Range Rovers.
The new SVAutobiography, developed by Special Vehicle Operations, takes Range Rover to another level of comfort, craftsmanship and refinement.
As for the interior, the cabin gains chic machined aluminium trim, while the plush rear seats boast electric-folding picnic tables and a champagne fridge ? along with ?deep twist pile mohair carpet mats?.
Three engines will be available for the new car, from Range Rover’s most powerful motor ? a 543bhp 5.0-litre V8 petrol ? plus a large V8 diesel and an SDV6 hybrid, which will also now be offered across the rest of the range.
Talking about the new car, John Edwards, Laguar Land Rover’s Special Operations managing director, said: ?Range Rover originally defined the luxury SUV segment and the new SVAutobiography, developed by Special Vehicle Operations, takes Range Rover to another level of comfort, craftsmanship and refinement.”
