Get Amazon parcels delivered to your Audi

In our world of instant messaging, contactless payment and one-click ordering, the increasingly slick process of shopping online is still hamstrung by one link in the chain: getting your parcels delivered. How many times have you been frustrated by couriers who don’t show up, or had one of those “sorry we missed you” cards drop on your doormat?

Carmaker Audi has teamed up with DHL and e-retail giant Amazon to make getting hold of that DVD box set easier – provided you drive one of its cars.

Currently being tested in Germany, ‘Audi connect easy delivery’ allows Amazon Prime members to give the approximate location of their car on the date and time of delivery instead of an address.

Provided you have an internet-connected Audi, a DHL driver will then be able to simply locate your car and use a one-time access code to open the boot. Once the parcels are safely inside and the boot lid closed, the delivery is marked as complete.

“With comprehensive connectivity, we are transforming the car into a service device and integrating it even more closely into the everyday lives of our customers,” said Luca de Meo, board member for Audi Germany.

“Audi connect easy delivery helps save time and offers more convenience and flexibility – advantages that are increasingly important for the target group of a premium brand.”

There is currently no word on if or when this new delivery service will make it to the UK.

Would you give couriers access to your car’s load space for more convenient deliveries? Let us know in the comments section below.
