Dog chews through its master’s Aston Martin

An Aston Martin owner has been left with a huge repair bill after returning to his car to find his dog had made it her new chew toy.

Royston Grimstead, of Chedzoy, Somerset, came home from work to be greeted by his Border Collie Luce covered in “white stuff”.

He soon discovered the mysterious substance was fibreglass that once formed part of the car’s wheel arch.

She avoided me after she did it and she was gone the next day.

“She had chewed out a huge chunk. I just laughed. I mean, what else could I do?” Grimstead told Yahoo News.

“I came home and saw her covered in white stuff and I thought she had got a bird and it was feathers – but it was the fibreglass from the car.

“I'm not a crier and she knew she had done something wrong because she had this guilty look on her face."

Grimstead has been left with a £3,000 repair bill for the damage to his DB9 Volante, which retails for over £143,000 new.

So distraught was the 42-year-old builder that he put an advert for Luce on a dog rehoming website. She was gone the next day.

He justified the decision, stating that she didn’t get on with his other dog – another Border Collie called Jess – and that he’d considered rehoming her previously.

The vandalism to his exotic car was seemingly the final straw for Mr Grimstead.

“She avoided me after she did it and she was gone the next day,” he said.

“I didn't tell the new owners what she had done – I expect when they hear I'll find Luce back on my doorstep.”

Fortunately, the damage to the car will be covered by its insurance policy and the DB9 will soon be restored to its former glory.
