Audi to unveil new Quattro Concept

August 15, 2013 | By | In News

Audi is to revive its iconic Quattro boot-badge with a new Concept car due to be unveiled at next month’s Frankfurt motor show.

It is being teased here in these official design sketches, though Audi remains tight lipped over whether they are representative of the finished car. The Quattro Concept will point the way towards a new range-topping production car, which is due next year.

Given its top-rung status, a road-going version is likely to be priced above any car in the current Audi range, meaning a price-tag of over £125,000.

Details are currently thin on the ground, though the car will most definitely be four-wheel drive, and is likely to use a modified version of the Audi A5 platform.

Engine details are also a long way from being confirmed, though the smart money is on the Quattro using a heavily modified version of the turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 currently found in the marque’s barnstorming RS6 estate car, with power expected to be around the 600bhp mark.

Audi previously released a Quattro Concept model in 2010 with a view to putting it into limited-run production. That project was canned due to fears there wasn’t a sufficient market for it, and Audi instead focussed its attention on its electric car projects, most notably the R8 and A3 e-tron models.

Would you like to see the Quattro badge adorn a future Audi model? Or do you think the current R8 supercar makes a more fitting range-topper? Have your say below.
