Skoda release new Octavia vRS 4x4

Skoda has released an all-new version of its Octavia car – the Octavia vRS 4×4.

The new model adds all-wheel drive capability to the already popular Octavia, providing drivers with more traction in slippery conditions.

Underneath the bonnet is a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces around 175bhp, along with 380Nm of torque. Driven to the road through a DSG gearbox, the four-wheel-drive system constantly monitors each wheel to provide power to whichever axel may need it. Should one corner have more grip than the rest, power can be sent directly to it.

The vRS incorporates mechanical advances to make it as enjoyable as possible on the road. These include multi-link sports suspension and an electronically-locking differential. There’s also a suite of safety control systems designed to make sure that the Octavia is not only fun to drive, but safe, too.

The strong diesel engine can go from 0-62mph in just 7.6 seconds, while still returning an impressive economy figure of 57.7mpg on a combined cycle. It also emits just 129g/km in hatch form, with a figure of 131g/km for the estate.

The new Octavia vRS 4×4 comes with an impressive amount of standard equipment, including touchscreen satellite navigation, dual-zone climate control and bi-xenon headlights. There’s also sports suspension and 18-inch anthracite alloy wheels.

Given the amount of standard equipment, the price for the Octavia vRS 4×4 offers provides great value for money. The range starts at £27,315 for the hatch and £28,515 for the estate.
