The new Nissan Micra will be with us next year, and the Japanese manufacturer has given us our first look at the supermini’s pricing structure.

The base model will start at £11,995 and there will be five trims available. That marks a substantial increase in price – the current Micra starts at just £7,995, while the current top-spec car is £12,455.

It’s a move being seen across the industry, with B-segment models moving up-market. The new Fiesta has also increased in price and quality, with the new Ka+ filling the need for a more budget-orientated model. It’s unclear if Nissan will reveal a new car to sit beneath the Micra.

The trims on offer will be Visia, Visia+, Acenta, N-Connecta and the top-spec Tekna, which will cost from £17,295. Nissan expects the petrol-engined Acenta model to be its most popular, with prices starting at £14,995.

The engines on offer at launch will be a 0.9-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel. Both engines make 89bhp. A 72bhp 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will join the range at a later date.

Options already revealed include keyless entry, an engine start/stop button and heated front seats. A high-end Bose sound system with speakers integrated into the headrests will also be made available.

There will be 10 body colours available with a choice of two-tone interiors. Leather trim, 17-inch alloy wheels and body decals will add to the personalisation options available.

Pricing for the full range will be revealed before the end of the year when order books open.
