New hatchback-cum-coupe joins quality car-maker's ever growing line-up. Check it out…
This is the new Audi A5 Sportback. With the Coupe and Cabrio, this makes the third member of the A5 ‘family’. The newcomer, which coincidentally arrives as Audi celebrates its 100th anniversary as a company, keeps true to the A5’s raked body shape. But it also blends in an extra pair of doors and a tailgate opening on to a capacious boot that’s almost as big as you’ll find in the estate version of the Audi A4.
The chassis is longer than the coupe’s though, so that there’s almost as much head and leg room for rear passengers as there is an A4 saloon. Despite though, this A5 remains a four seater. Drop the seat backs, though, and you free 980 litres of load space for use.
The car gs on sale from October, although dealers have opened their order books from today. Power will come from 2.0 and 3.0 diesel engines and 2.0 and 3.2 petrol motors. Only the smaller diesel engine will be available with a manual gearbox – the rest come with automatic transmission.
As with other Audis, owners pick between standard, SE and S-line trim. Prices run from £28,625 to £36,220.
