Mercedes has released the prices and technical figures of its SL roadster.
The Mercedes-Benz SL has been a popular roadster for many years now, and this latest model hopes to bring not only performance, but economy and comfort, too.
At the base of the range sits the SL 400, which utilises a 4.0-litre V6 engine. Producing 367bhp, it pushes out 34bhp more than the previous equivalent model, reaching 62mph in just 4.9 seconds.
Power is run through Mercedes’ own 9G-TRONIC gearbox, which provides smooth and effortless changes. The SL 400 also comes as standard with Apple CarPlay, which allows drivers to mirror their phone’s screens on the main display. As well as this, LED Intelligent Light System comes as standard, along with parking pilot and active brake assist.
At the top of the range sits the SL 65, which is fitted with a 6.0-litre V12 engine. This incredible power plant manages to produce 630bhp, and can crack 62mph in just four seconds, thanks in part to an AMG Speedshift seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The SL 65 also features AMG high performance composite braking system and a full AMG exhaust system. It also sits lower to the ground, thanks to AMG sports suspension.
All of the models within the range can be specified with the Night Package, which consists of 19-inch alloy wheels along with both the diffuser trim strip and front splitter finished in high-gloss black.
Prices for the SL start at £73,455 for the SL 400, climbing to £172,140 for the range-topping AMG SL 65.
