Driver Friendly Snacks

If you’re going on a long journey there are plenty of things that you might need from directions, a break down kit and a fully charged phone to a suitcase full of clothes and a box full of snacks. Where ever it is that you’re going there’s nothing worse than cruising along the motorway singing at the top of your lungs to your favourite song and suddenly being stuck by hunger pangs.

We can’t stress enough that we’re not recommending that you eat and drive at the same time, but in certain situations it’s inevitable. If you are good at multitasking, drive an awful lot or are on a particularly long trip of course you will be more than capable of eating and driving at the same time, so here are our favourite driver friendly snacks for long trips.

Energy/Chocolate bars

Anything that is easy to hold with one hand and won’t distract you from the task at hand. Whether you’re a yorkie lover, alpen or a galaxy we don’t judge just watch out for melting chocolate crumbs if you’re on a business trip or off to meet the relatives.

Pre – prepped veg

If you’re more of a health food lover then why not try some pre-chopped fruit or veg in an easy to reach container for the drive. You could use apples, carrots, celery – basically anything that won’t go mushy when left or that’s too juicy and will run down your shirt.

Trail Mix

It might not be everyone’s taste but it’s certainly something that’s easy to eat although if you’re prone to mishaps do make sure you avoid it as it could end up all over your lap or stuck in your throat – neither of which is good.

Mints

Everyone likes a good mint. They might not be nutritionally valuable or completely sate your hunger but they can take the edge off and if you haven’t packed anything else to take with you finding a packet of mints in the door can be a wonderful experience. What are your favourite snacks when driving? Do you have any top tips for long journey snacks?
