Police seize provisional licence holder’s Lambo

Police in Surrey have seized a £155,000 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder after discovering its driver didn’t own a full driving licence.

Officers from Richmond’s Safer Transport Team pulled the car over for speeding on Sheen Road in Richmond-on-Thames in Surrey and officers soon discovered the driver didn’t own a full licence after running a routine insurance check.

Police then seized the car in order to gather evidence and eventually prosecute the offending driver.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed that the driver will face punishment, saying: “The driver of the high performance sports car will be appearing in court for the driving offences and potentially receiving a driving ban, penalty points and a large fine as a result of his actions.”

There was no word on whether the police would seize the vehicle indefinitely or not.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder features a 5.2 litre V10 engine that is capable of propelling the car to 62mph from a standstill in just 4 seconds and then on to a top speed of 201mph.

Only 5 models were registered in the UK last year, making this one of the most unique cars on the road, but that didn’t stop this provisional and uninsured driver speeding through the streets of South London in it.

If you have a spare £100,000+ to spare and have a son or daughter that would appreciate learning to drive in a high-powered Lamborghini, take a look at the stock on Motors.co.uk
